Nutrient Disorders
Deficiencies
- Mild nutrient deficiency of Nitrogen and Phosphorus is used to limit elongation of shoots (leaves and stems), especially in young plants.
Deficiencies
Signs
- Dark green/purple
- Necrosis of oldest leaves
- Stunted roots
- Decrease in general nutrient uptake
- Reduced flowering, seeds and fruits
Toxicity
- high content can cause stem elongation (not a toxicity in itself, but could be an issue in seedlings)
- Be careful with
Phosphorus acid (H3PO3) used to lower the pH
Deficiencies
Signs
- Speckling, edges of older leaves
- Leaf scorch: Edges look burnt
